José Escamilla is associate director of the Institute for the Future of Education (https://tec.mx/es/ife). The purpose of the Institute is to generate, transfer and disseminate applicable knowledge on educational innovation, connecting, inspiring and accompanying those who seek disruptive solutions for the future of higher education and learning for life.

He was director of TecLabs, Dean of the Graduate School of Education and Director of Educational Innovation. He has worked on the use of technologies in education, artificial intelligence, online education and various educational innovation projects. He is a Computer Systems Engineer from Tecnológico de Monterrey and has a Master's and Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from the Grenoble Polytechnic Institute.
